Erasmus
We are very fortunate to be part of an Erasmus Plus consortium of schools investigating the teaching of foreign languages. Our school along with 11 others will visit schools all over Europe to investigate how they teach foreign languages to their students and to bring home ideas on how we might teach languages in our schools.
Múinteoir Chris went on the first trip to Cadiz in September and Múinteoir Brian visited Tallin in February. Both were great opportunities to see other schools and to travel with other teachers from across Galway and see and discuss how things are done in a wide variety of schools.
Múinteoir Maura recently had the opportunity to visit a Primary School in Nantes as part of a delegation funded by the Erasmus + Programme. It was a wonderful opportunity to observe the English Language taught in a Primary School setting, as a second language, as we prepare to implemet the teaching of a European language in Irish schools. There were opportunities to observe experienced teachers at work and to discuss ideas and approaches. The French schools were extremely welcoming and positive in the collaboration process and it proved a most enjoyable and beneficial trip!
